Fleur de lis

I had the joy of having two groups of family come in town for the week! We had a celebration with the whole group this past weekend and I made this New Olreans inspired cake for the dinner.
The cake is an Golden Almond cake - one I do not make very often, but is a quite tasty recipe! The icing is real buttercream flavored with butter-vanilla and raspberry. The fleur de lis pieces were fondant. There are dragees placed on the sides - gold 8mm beads and pearls.

Flowers Abound!

This is Amanda's 6th birthday party cake. We went with a floral themed invitation (pictured above) so I thought I would recreate the invite in cake.
Amanda and I had so much fun making this cake! She helped me "decide" where to put the fondant flowers. The cake was a almond white on the bottom and devil's food on the top covered in buttercream with fondant accents.
I am so glad she was my client! I doubt I would get to make this cake for a regular client - it was quite bright and obnoxious! But, it made me smile every time I looked at it!

Baby Shower Camo

This was a baby shower cake with a pink camo theme. The bib is fondant with impression pattern printed along the edges and for the word "Baby".
