Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy V-Day! This is a double layer brownie snack I made for the kids in Amanda's class.

Yum, yum, lots of sugar to get them bouncing off the walls!

Quilt/Bed Cake

This is a birthday cake for my grandmother's 91st birthday. She has, for 75 years, made quilts from hand. So, I thought I would make her a cake in honor of her work.

I also learned that it is harder than I expected to do a quilt based cake. The fondant dries before you can play with it. Never fear - I adjusted my original idea and I still liked the outcome.

The cake was vanilla cake with vanilla fondant. The chocolate colored fondant is dark chocolate fondant and there are silver dragees in the cross hatches on the white part of the bed. The "headboard" is a piece of cardboard covered in wood grained fondant and attached to the head of the bed.
